As far as I know " Lea De Mae" is the title of a track by the late and great Frank Zappa.
Perhaps Mr Widman can shed more light on it? He was her manager, I bet he knows, or may even be resposible for it.
When I met her in 1998, she was Andrejka not Lea, a lovely innocent girl full of life and confidence.
I`m quite sure she wasn`t into Frank Zappa and she was yet to meet those who would exploit her innocence.
I wish things could have been different for her, she would have been successful and famous for whatever she did. Once you have looked into her electric blue eyes you are a disciple for life, you would find it hard not to do all you could for her, she was special, I have only met one other like her in all my life! A rare breed indeed.
I sense you are referring about her being a star in the adult film industry when you say you "wish things could of been diffrent for her?" If not I know that there are others that come here that do have a few issues with it.
I do tend to think that porn, as a sin, is seen as such as much socially than even a religious view. Chris at one time made an excellent point about violent movies. Why are they and there stars not attacked to the same extent? Murder, cheating, stealing, etc, can and should be seen as much as a sin as casual sex. Even worse. And these movies show so much of that. Why are those things in movies not as bad? You do not think Andrea was an actress or even acting? Guess what. She was! She played a porn star. She played it so well she has been stereo typed as such.
For doing it, she met some very true, deep, loving, friends she probably would never got to meet if it not for the industry. There is only a few downsides that I can see about the choice. One is it being for some reason, socialy wrong to do what she did. Secondly, people knowing that about her could disist her in maybe doing things she wanted in the future. And thirdly if she would of been an actress in "regular" movies and as succesfull more people may have seen her truley for who she really was instead of judging her for what she was doing.
Most religions teach forgivness. If you are a believer in such a religion and have issues with Andrea doing what she did. For yourself, you need to forgive her if you think she may be in the wrong. And if you forgive you should not have anymore issues with it. And I don't say that just for Andrea. But for anyone. A lot of things wrong with this world is because people hold a grudge. They cannot forgive. I believe everyone here can. Why doubt any loved one will go to Heaven when we believe that God is one of forgivness? And being man can forgive anyone and all, then why could not God?
By the way, I too do not think Andrea was into Zap. But did not know he had a song called that. Interesting. Thanks P

I do hope for your sake that you knew her, I did not, I met her on a few occaisions in the spring of 1998 whilst passing time in the beautiful city of Prague. I will never forget her, I sat in the pool of light that surrounded her and was able to look into those electric blue eyes for a moment or two.
I have never recovered from those moments nor shall I ever!! I cannot imagine the pain now of those who knew her, let alone that of her family and friends.
When I told her that she was "Tomorrow`s Girl" in what I thought was Czech, she laughed for ages untill her face was red. What she thought I said, I will never know, but she did kiss me on the cheek and held me tight , just for a second. That was special.
With her knowing my feelings about her being in the adult film industry we did not touch on the subject much. There was the occasional verbal comment about it. But never touched deeply into the subject. To me, always she will be Andrea. I did know her. But I did not get to spend a lot of personal time with her.
She was a very special person. She held some sort of power. It seemed that once you seen, touched, or even spoke to this woman, people never forgot her. Yes, she was a very beautiful woman. But something like that comes from inside a person. She had a special presence about her. And those that did not notice her when she would walk into a room, even crowded, did so by ignoreance. Even in death her presence is felt. Not because what she was. But because of WHO she was. Her body may be gone but her light still shines. And it is that light my friend that you, me, and thousands of others will not and cannot forget.
Not quite sure if this is connected with my desperate journey to uncover mystery of Andrea's acting name which I am undertaking right now, but thank you for starting discussion about biggest trouble of my recent weeks.
I am a journalist from Czech Republic who currently writes big biographical article about her (for Reflex magazine). And I somehow think that the name is important. I spoke to lot of people already (and who knows, perhaps some of you - I don't know your internet nicknames ), and nobody seems to know it!
a) Oldrich Widman thinks that it was the name of some sportswoman... ice-skater or gymnast, perhaps. I tried to check it, nothing. b) Andrea's diving coach Michaela vaguely recalls some girl called "Lea" who was with Andrea on team. Highly unlikely, I would say. c) Nor Monica Sweetheart, nor Daniella Rush, nor Andrea's sister have even slightest idea. d) Frank Zappa idea: as far as I know, Andrea loved Czech electropop from 80s (namely Michal David and so on), which does not go with Zappa very well. And I was not able to find any Zappa's track of even simillar name anywhere. There is a group called "Mae", there is Vanessa Mae of course... e) I even tried to find an acronym (Adame Lee? Pfff...), checked the dictionaries (Lea should in Spanish mean "I read" ) f) I will meet some other friends of Andrea next week but I am getting kind of frustrated.
So I thought I'll check on the forums - only to see that there are others hungry for solution.

I am so releaved to hear that others close to her do not know. Now I do not feel so silly not knowing. I too did not find a song by Zappa by that name. But only figured it was some obscure unreleased song he did. But I could not confirm that either.
Also, we could be looking way to hard into it. Andrea was as intelligent woman as beautiful. She might just rolled it off her tounge and liked it. And decided to use it. My guess is that it is probably two or three names she put together for one reason or another. What reasons?
That I do not know and thats kinda the reason I asked the question. Was it meant to to be a tribute to someone? Or a tribute to more than one person? Was it just made up? Is it meant to mean something?
Man, don't get frustrated too much. I betcha' she is looking down at us right now laughing her butt off because we can't figure this out. And I think that's exactly the way she would of liked it.

Possible rough french to english translation could be

mae - my or mine
or - any man is mine

Also, after some german translations De Mae or demae could almost be translated into english with a few adjustments as - QUEEN? And she used to word the last name as Demae.
Just thought I throw that in. My translation may be wrong or a little misconstrude. But interesting at the least.
Lea has been a been a very popular christian/forename in England or Britain rather since the Dark Ages. The literal translation of Lea is "an open space particularly refering to grassland or a meadow". This name is usually given to girls but sometimes boys also when it is spelled differently ie. Lee or Leigh.
The De Mae is hard to fathom, maybe only Venus herself knows, I`m sure she looks down and giggles as I write. The "de" is probably "of" and "Mae" could mean "rave or dance" from the Greek to Latin translation of "mainomai". could also be from "mae`nad" meaning "bacchante" ie. drinking or celebrating!
I`m Welsh not English so my interpretation has a regional flavour to it, however translating it into Welsh doesn`t help. I`m sre that that Lucie would know perhaps Chris even.
Andrea loved dancing I know for sure, so then maybe it means "meadow or field of dancing" that might make sense perhaps. Have a few good Czech beers and a few Vodkas too then think about it , maybe there`s somehting to it.
