Hello I am a fairly recent Lea fan, and was saddened to hear of her passing, I read the diary some months ago of how her condition worsened from day to day (I think it was this site but I could be wrong) it was very powerful and somewhat depressing at times to read but she (Lea) is at peace now...
The question is was her rapid deterioation and passing due to the fact that her cancer was in such an advanced state OR was it due to a lack of access to proper treatment in her home country? In other words would it have made a difference if she was receiving treatment in the US or UK?
I think your question moves many fans and friends of Lea De Mae even after more than one year now. Since I've been in contact with many doctors and specialists with reputation at the time, I think I'm able to give you an answer. According to all of them, there was NO HELP at all, even with better treatment. I think that her awful pains however, could have been eased by professional pain management. This kind of cancer is killing you for 100%. Most patients die within 3 months after the diagnosis. In Lea's case the diagnosis was made very late, because the doctors thought her headaches were the result of a car accident she had earlier in 2004. (Someone who didn't pay attention crashed into her car from behind.) With a lot of "luck" and under the best medical circumstances some patients survive a few months more. Neither of us wanted to believe it, but it turned out to be true.
Chris, I hope you could give me an answer to my (moot) question. Lea looked like an intelligent and tallented girl, I think, this "look" was true. I could not understand, WHY a girl like her became a pornstar... You responded to information (probably from the vikipedia.org) where was a notice about her sports injury, which is connected with "start to be a pornstar". You wrote something like "she did what her hobby was". It is all right, sex is a hobby for everyone, but most people do not earn money and use cameras when they do it. - I point out that I do not speak about entertainment which was in front of the cameras practised! I read an article which had been written by a photograph who made photoes of Lea diving. He wrote that she was shy and did not want to put her swimdress off very long time and he wrote that she made photos because of she needed money for rent a swimming pool for doing her trainings. It is inconsistent! She faced the pornography - what was a reason? I think the entertainment is not any argument in the connecton with her... Or not?
